Regent 9U & 10U (Alliance League)
Program Overview:
- Teams play in the Alliance League against Shorewood, Middleton United, and other Regent teams
- Game Format: 7V7 (with goalies & refs)
- Teams practice once or twice per week
- Games are on Saturday/Sunday - held at Westside or Middleton parks
- Teams are coached & managed by volunteer parents
Spring-only registration for 9U–10U players is offered by invitation only and is based on availability. Interested players must first join the waitlist, and any open spots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
TIMELINE & FEES

- Note: Winter programming is separate from regular Regent programming & optional when available

- 9U–10U: Invite-only & based on availability
- Players must be on the spring waitlist to be considered for an invitation

TEAM FORMATION
Age Group ChartTeams are formed by birthdate using the Seasonal Year (Aug. 1 – July 31).
In order to be placed onto a Regent 9U or 10U team, players must sign up through PlayMetrics (link above) and indicate their preferred program preference: Alliance 9/10 OR MAYSA 9/10
- Once we have enough players to form a team, players will be invited to complete registration and payment (starting in mid-June).
- Players are placed on teams first come, first served.
- In the event that we do not have enough players to form a team, players will be notified with their options.
We take friend requests, school / grade, etc. into consideration whenever possible.
Roster size of 11-13 players.
Teams are either co-ed or all-girls
At this age, co-ed teams are typically all-boys.
There is a co-ed league and an all-girls league.
** Important - Teams MUST have at least 1 parent volunteer! **
UNIFORMS
Soccer Post: MyUniform Ordering~$120 uniform kit from Soccer Post (formerly Stefans Soccer).
Uniform kit includes:
- Blue Jersey
- Yellow Jersey
- Shorts
- Socks
In preparation for the Fall season, players will receive an invitation to order uniforms in late June/early July.
- Uniforms are on a 2-year cycle.
- Fall 2026 marks the start of a new cycle — all players will be required to purchase a uniform.
- Uniforms purchased for Fall 2026 will be used for two years.
- Replacement pieces or additional items may be ordered throughout the year.
- Jersey numbers are assigned by the club.
Note: Players added to teams during the Spring season will receive an invitation to order uniforms on an as-needed basis.

- Regent blue/yellow jersey
- Soccer shorts
- Shin guards
- Soccer socks to cover shin guards
- Rounded cleats or athletic shoes

Regent's primary jersey color is BLUE; alternate jersey is YELLOW
When playing a team of the same color, it is the HOME team's responsibility to wear their alternate jersey
- For Example: Regent VS Regent team; HOME team wears Yellow, AWAY team wears Blue

GAMEDAY INFO
Rules of the Game PresentationAlliance League - Regent, Shorewood, & Middleton United
GAME FORMAT:
- 7V7 games (6 plus a goalie)
- 2x 25-min HALVES
- Size 4 ball
- Games are on the weekends at local parks in Madison or Middleton
- Referees officiate the game
- Coaches should be on one side of the field with their team. All spectators should be on the opposite side. We discourage spectators from standing behind the goals during play.
RULES:
- Throw-ins
- Goal kicks & corner kicks
- Offsides*
- NO intentional heading allowed
- No punting
- Addition of the "build-out line"
- Sliding is discouraged at this age - it is not safe play.
*Offsides for 9U & 10U is called at the build-out line (not the half line).
Substitutions: Teams can sub on their own throw-in, either team’s goal kick or before kickoff (i.e., after a goal is scored)
- Players should line up at the half-field line and wait to be called in by the referee the next time a team is eligible to make a substitution

SEASON & SCHEDULE
The playing Year runs Fall to Spring (8/1 - 7/31)
FALL Season: Late August - October
SPRING Season: April - Early June
PRACTICES:
- Teams typically practice 1-2x per week at local parks
- Volunteer coaches/managers can request when/where they practice
GAMES:
- 8 games in the Fall; 8 games in the Spring
- It is possible to have 2 games in one weekend
All schedules will be added to PlayMetrics when they are available.
- You can sync your PlayMetrics practice/game schedule to your phone's schedule if desired
COACHING
Need to Know (Volunteering)Regent relies on parent volunteers to help coach and manage teams at this age.
- We suggest 2-3 volunteers per team
- No experience is necessary to coach or manage
- Coaching class is recommended for at least one volunteer
- Regent provides equipment (cones, ball bag, pinnies, game ball) and a t-shirt!
- Regent provides lesson plans, drills in PlayMetrics, as well as a guide to help volunteers throughout the season.
- Volunteers can request when/where they practice.
Volunteers are required to upload a photo, complete a background check and SafeSport training (Risk Management).
