9U/10U Alliance League

9U/10U Alliance League

Please visit our programs overview page, and our COVID-19 page, to gain understanding of Regent SC policies and procedures as they relate to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Due to the nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, all details are subject to change

Our 9U/10U teams play in a league formed with our Alliance Community Club partners: Shorewood and Middleton United. One of the benefits of this partnership is at 9U-10U we schedule our own games against each other.  Rather than place teams into the MAYSA (Madison Area Youth Soccer Association) leagues where you could potentially have an hour travel for a game, we opted for a more local game schedule.  With our Alliance scheduling, you will travel, but with a MAXIMUM of 20 minutes for an AWAY game. Most of our teams within this league are co-ed, however, we do have a separate, All-Girl team league as well.   If your player would prefer to play on an all girls team, you will have that option during registration.

These teams are formed based on birth year as well as friend/coach/school request.   While it is not always possible it is a main objective to honor your requests.

Adult volunteers play a vital part in  Regent’s Alliance League teams.   Our players need you to coach and manage their teams.  It is what allow us to keep our players playing and  we couldn't do it without you!   No soccer experience is necessary to volunteer, all it takes is a click on the 'volunteer' box on your players registration.  No experience.  No worries.   As always, Regent is available to help and answer any questions you may have.

2020-21 cost per player is $133.95 (full year)/$76.30 (spring only, as roster space allows) plus $20/jersey for those that don't own a set.

Regent 9U/10U teams typically train 1x/week for an hour each session.  Matches will be at parks or schools on the west side of Madison or in Middleton.   Our 9U/10U teams are encouraged to participate in the MAYSA Cup tournament held in May at Reddan Soccer Park.

  • Addition of a "build out line." The build out line is used to promote playing the ball out of the back in an unpressured setting. When the goalkeeper has the ball, either during play or from a goal kick, the opposing team must move behind the buildout line. Once the opposing team is behind the buildout line, the goalkeeper can pass, throw or roll the ball to a teammate. After the ball is put into play, the opposing team can then cross the buildout line and play resumes.
  • Punting the ball is not allowed, as this would defeat the purpose of the buildout line and reduce the opportunity to play out of the back in an unpressured setting.
  • No intentional headers allowed. As part of the U.S. Soccer Player Safety Initiative, heading the ball is not allowed in leagues with players 10 and under. Rule: "When a player deliberately heads the ball in a game, an indirect free kick should be awarded to the opposing team from the spot of the offense. If the deliberate header occurs within the goal area, the indirect free kick should be taken on the goal area line parallel to the goal line at the point nearest to where the infringement occurred. If a player does not deliberately head the ball, then play should continue."
  • Beginning SPRING 2017- Offside for Under 9 and 10  -- per US Soccer we have an obligation to abide by Offside for these age groups.  Please understand that the majority of referees who officiate these games are the newest and youngest of officials.  They are doing their best- please be patient!

The build out line will also be used to denote where  offside  offenses can be called.  Players cannot be penalized for an  offside  offense between the halfway line and the build out line.  Players can be penalized for an  offside  offense between the build out line and goal line.
