Frequently asked questions

How do I get a registration form?
Click here for a registration form to print, complete, and mail with a check to RSC, PO Box 5413, Madison, WI 53705-0413.

How do I know which team to request?
First, contact the age commissioner for your child's age group (click here to see cut-off dates). You can leave a message on the Club phone (287-0714) with your name, your child's name, school, birth date, and a phone number to call.

U6-U8  Robin Carre

U9-U10  Scott Stary

U11-U12  Stu Mondschein

U13-U14  Phil James

U15-up  Marti Lindstrom

How are recreational roster openings filled? Do coaches get to choose their players?
The coach does not select new players for recreational teams, however, players may request a particular team or coach. These requests are honored to the extent possible, but in cases where roster limits would be exceeded, rosters are filled in the order the registrations are received. Coaches are allowed to re-register their current team members for the following season. Players are added as their registrations are received. The age commissioners and the registrar will do their best to see that players are not orphaned (i.e., the only child from a particular school, or the only girl or only boy on a team).

How much are the registration fees? What do the fees cover?
U7 through U14 age groups play a split season (8 games in the fall, and 8 in the spring). Recreational fees for the 2007/2008 season are $80 and classic fees are $125. The recreational fee includes a jersey. Classic team uniforms are not included in the player registration fee.

High school-aged teams play a half season fall for girls, and spring for boys to be in compliance with WIAA rules. The registration fees for small-sided, recreational players are $45. Fees for spring-only classic team players are $70.

Player fees also cover club administrative costs, team equipment, referee fees, and membership fees in the youth soccer associations that we are affiliated withMAYSA, WYSA, and USYSA. The club uses excess for our scholarship fund, coach training, and field improvements. The remainder is kept in reserve.

Does the club offer scholarships? Who should I contact?
Yes. Requests for financial assistance require verification of participation in the school free or reduced lunch program. Assistance is in the form of registration fee waiver. As the budget allows, the board will designate a scholarship fund to help defray the additional expenses incurred by classic players [who meet the registration-fee waiver guidelines]. The request can be sent directly to the Club, or it may be delivered by a coach or manager. It should include a brief description of the player's circumstances, the amount of the request, and required documentation by the application deadline. The request will be reviewed by the RSCI board. The team manager or coach will be notified of the board's decision.

How many teams are registered with Regent? What age and divisions are they? There are 91 teams in RSCI — about 1200 players participating in the recreational and classic programs.

Must we live in the West High School attendance area for my child to play with Regent?
No. We also serve other players who attend a school within that district or who for other reasons choose to register with Regent.

What other soccer clubs are there?
There are about 40 soccer clubs in Madison and the surrounding area. For a  listing of those that serve youth players visit the MAYSA web site. Listed below are the registrars/administrators of our Alliance partners.

Each player should bring an appropriately sized ball and a full water bottle to practices and games.
